Doesn’t the name ‘Golden Pineapple’ make you want to lie back on a tropical beach somewhere far, far away from here? This tasty strain is indeed a tropical one, with both parents exhibiting their own unique fruity flavors: Golden Goat and Pineapple Kush. Who the original breeder of this strain is, no one can say for certain. However we do know of a few cultivators who have their resin covered fingerprints all over this strain.
Golden Pineapple Strain History
The first cultivator associated with Golden Pineapple (and possible originator of the strain) is Phat Panda, one of the largest cannabis producers in the state of Washington. Phat Panda enjoyed tremendous success with the strain, so much so that it’s now known as one of their in-house specialties.
Another breeder that helped popularize Golden Pineapple is none other than AltSol. Founded in 2015, AltSol enjoys a rep as one of Washington DC’s finest cultivators focusing on medicinal cannabis and prized genetics. It’s no surprise that they’re associated with this flavor packed flower: their production catalog contains over 50 different strains to date.
Cannabis breeder Green Bodhi has also put out a different strain with the same name.
Regardless of which coast it originated, today Golden Pineapple can be found in dispensaries all across America.
Golden Pineapple Strain Effects
Golden Pineapple has one potent ‘sativa’ parent characterized by cerebral effects (Golden Goat) as well as its polar opposite, a heavy ‘indica’ parent famous for its stony body high (Pineapple Kush). The offspring of these two polar opposites, then, reflects a mix of both parents.
Golden Pineapple starts off feeling like it’s Golden Goat parent. Happiness washes over users almost instantly. Stressful thoughts seem to melt away as anxious minds and racing thoughts begin to quiet. This strain is known for its creative influence, which means users may find themselves wanting to complete projects or creative tasks at hand. The energetic effects of this strain take a twist not too long into the journey as cerebral stimulation shifts to a gentle body high. Tense muscles may ease up as stony sensations and the munchies kick in. Anyone looking to keep their minds active while keeping their bodies mellow and relaxed should consider this an ideal pick.

This unique effect profile makes Golden Pineapple beloved by recreational and medicinal users alike. Medical cannabis patients report this strain may help with a variety of conditions including loss of appetite, anorexia, stress, depression and anxiety. Some side effects associated with Golden Pineapple include dry mouth, dry eyes and anxiety.
Golden Pineapple Strain Profile
Bright green, lime colored leaves are one of the first distinguishing characteristics of Golden Pineapple. Her nugs are highly dense and compact, coated in orange trichomes and thick coatings of frosty trichomes.
The smell of this flower, however, is the best part. It’s a tropical scent that delights, with strong notes of pineapple, citrus and fruit. Some describe the taste of this flower as a pineapple jolly rancher; it’s sweet, tart and bright on the palate. Fruity scents that can include apricot or blueberry notes may be present as well. Faint spicy notes can be detected in the background that are almost woodsy.
Cannabinoid profile of this strain reveals some phenotypes contain moderate Cannabigerol (CBG) levels. CBG, or “the mother cannabinoid”, is a cannabinoid with neuroprotective properties.
The primary terpene found in Golden Pineapple is Terpinolene, a terpene with antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Secondary terpenes include Myrcene and Pinene. It’s also interesting to consider the fact that this strain’s Golden Goat parent is quite terpene rich: reports note it can contain Terpinolene, alpha-Pinene, Humulene and Caryophyllene as primary terpenes. Secondary Golden Goat terpenes include Myrcene and Limonene.
Golden Pineapple Strain Grow Tips
Ah friends, this one is a toughie to get your hands on.
Surfr Seeds put out an S1 (Golden Pineapple x Golden Pineapple) but those seeds seem to be near impossible to locate, and more information isn’t provided.
This is a pretty easy strain to grow due to its high resistance to mildew and mold. It can be cultivated in or outdoors and thrives with a hydroponics setup and warm, temperate climates. Flowering period is approximately 8 to 9 weeks with ideal time to harvest as late September or early October.
Unfortunately while Golden Pineapple may be easy to grow yields are often low: outdoor yields are said to typically not exceed 11 ounces per plant. Indoor yields fare a bit better, with up to 13 ounces per square meter. That all depends on the conditions and the skills of the grower, but the takeaway here is that Golden Pineapple is best grown indoors.
