Dosidos (also written as Do-Si-Dos or just Dosi) is the result of crossing two notoriously heavy hitters, conjuring up a strain that has something special to offer both medicinal users and seasoned enthusiasts alike. Let’s get into it!
Vintage: circa 2012
Lineage: OGKB (GSC pheno) x Face Off OG BX1
Breeder: Archive Seeds
Pheno Hunter: Fletch, Archive Seeds
As is the case with many noteworthy cuts, this story begins in the Pacific Northwest. Dosidos was originally bred by Archive Seeds around 2012. Hailing out of Portland, OR, the aptly named Archive Seeds is a well-respected operation that seeks to, in their own words, “preserve heritage quality cannabis genetics”, and “preserve flavors and effects that might be lost in modern cannabis” through prolific genetic archives. Archive’s Fletch is the individual generally credited with creating the original strain. A living legend in maintaining these genetic archives, Fletch, a.k.a. ThaDocta, a.k.a. The Librarian, crossed OGKB (OG Kush Breath) with Face Off OG, selecting only the most promising cuts to serve as the foundation for Dosidos, which takes more than just its name from its Cookies forebear. OG Kush Breath is a hybrid many agree to be a phenotype of GSC, or Girl Scout Cookies. The popular cut is a known aid to those with chronic pain, anxiety, and insomnia. Even when not working in tandem with its powerful counterpart, Face Off OG BX1 (a descendant of OG Kush) is still a force to be reckoned with. According to Fletch himself, it offers an “...overwhelmingly unique flavor and skull crushing high. A strain not intended for the lightweights, it may turn some green for a minute or two, with an almost nauseatingly potent, initial head high. Great for heavy pain relief without the grogginess or fog of many pain medicines.”
It only made sense to cross these two medicinally beneficial, over-achieving strains. What resulted was Dosidos; a potent pain-relieving indica-dominant strain, widely appreciated from the beginning and only continuing to grow in popularity as the years go on. This is not only attributed to its next-level bag appeal, mind-blowingly potent effects, and medical value, but also due to the fact that it has served as the jumping-off point for so many other strains since it first stepped onto the scene nine years ago. The strain has been recognized by High Times as a Top Strain (2016), placed in the Top 10 Indica Flowers at the SoCal Cannabis Cup (2017), and was even just named Leafly’s Strain of the Year in 2021.
The strain is a parent to new-school stars such as Peanut Butter Breath (Dosidos x Mendo Breath) and Dolato (Dosidos x Gelato #41) among others.
Dosidos Strain Effects
Dosidos is a THC heavy and physically powerful hybrid strain, offering sought-after body effects such as tingly full-body-and-mind relaxation, stress relief, and familiarly heavy eyelids. It is known for coming on strong with a blast of euphoria accompanied by a comfortable buzz experienced in the mind and body, gradually creeping into a state of tiredness and couchlock. This is a strain you can comfortably rely on after a long day on your feet, or when dealing with things like pain, insomnia, or anything else that calls for a powerful sedative. Consumers might find themselves experiencing burnout an hour or two after ingesting if they chose to partake earlier in the day, maybe before running errands or having to be sociable. Working hard to negate mental symptoms as well as the physical, Dosidos can boost moods, provoke deeper thought, and even works as an aphrodisiac. As mentioned before, this is an incredibly powerful strain to the extent that it could humble a seasoned enthusiast. Not only are the effects powerful, but the duration for which you’ll feel said effects is worth mentioning as well.
The buds themselves tend to boast a distinct and vibrant color palette. Deep, dark purples and bright orange pistils are surrounded by a hazy light-green that can only be enhanced by its radiant, sparkling trichome covering. These nugs and their blazing colors are easily distinguishable, as is their unique aroma. Calling back to its OGKB roots, strong earthy notes emanate from the kaleidoscopic buds, complimented by strong notes of citrus, featuring the peppery gas-heavy notes commonly associated with OGs. Different cuts may be much funkier or have stronger floral traces. The buds themselves tend to be quite large and dense. A hit of Dosidos really brings the citrus to life, but also adds a taste bordering on that of sweet, fresh-baked goods. Limonene is the dominant terpene, accounting for the citrusy earth notes. Other terpenes also include beta-caryophyllene and linalool.
If one is able to actually get their hands on seeds, more experienced growers will be very happy with the Dosidos strain yield, especially considering its vigorous growth. Always a versatile cut, Dosidos will grow successfully indoors, where height can be kept in check, or it can flourish outdoors, where it is able to grow quite tall. Dosidos will grow successfully in soil or through hydroponics, making it a versatile option for many types of grower. Per Archive Seeds, feminized Dosidos seeds have never, and will never be available. They do not exist. You can purchase regular Dosi seeds directly from Archive Seed Bank — but heads up, they’re often backordered! Get your dibs in early!
