Review: Gello Gelato
Part of the reason that Gelato has become so popular has to do with just how many expressions of it there are. We can think of seven different cuts, not to mention all of the S1 cuts, in-crosses and backcrosses of it that are kicking around cultivation communities. Gello is one of those in-crosses, being a cross of (Bacio Gelato 41 x Mochi Gelato 47) which has resulted in some unusual expressions for what we normally see from Gelato.
While most Gelato cuts and crosses offer a predictable sleepy couch-lock effect, Gello is much more energizing and refreshing which makes it suitable for mornings and afternoons. The nugs on the sample we got from Gifted Curators are the same dense multi-peaked shape you would expect from Bacio or Mochi, but the buds are almost all green rather than purple. The scent and flavor are also much more funky and savory than the tart sweet we’re used to, which is a nice change of pace. Overall, we recommend this for anyone looking for a high-quality, energizing strain that aids focus and creativity.
Review: BAM (Banana Acai Mints)
Our flavor journey continues with Sherbinskis’ BAM (Banana Açaí Mints). This flower practically pole-vaults out of the bag, immediately recognizable as a truly unique cultivar with its pungent, resinous, neon green nugs. The scent and flavor remind us of a banana piece of Runts wrapped in a strip of Extra gum with a mouth-coating mustiness on the back end, which makes it a must-have for flavor chasers.
Banana Açaí Mints likely inherited its complex scent and flavor from its parents (Banana Punch x Açaí Mints). BAM is a poly-hybrid from two cultivars known to be heavy-hitting, sleep-inducing smokes. We were pleasantly surprised to find that this particular concoction’s effect is clear-headed, pure relaxation without much drag, making it perfect for an afternoon or early evening smoke session. We recommend BAM to any enthusiast looking for truly unique flavor and effects that make it a joy to smoke over and over again.
Review: Acai Berry Kush
Sherbinskis Acai Berry Kush are some of the most resinous nugs we’ve seen all year, with a unique scent that reminds us of lychee or dragonfruit. In a world where “exotic” as a descriptor gets thrown around like a football on Sunday, Açaí Berry Kush genuinely meets that description. Its swollen forest green and lavender hued calyxes and kushy-candy scents provide a compelling preview, but you’ll get the full picture after smoking it.
We’re not quite sure of the genetics on Açaí Berry Kush, but we speculate that it’s a cross of (Açaí Berry Gelato x Pink Panties). On the palate, we get a mix of berry candy, hoppiness, and funk. The mustiness in the aroma leads us to believe that there’s some presence of the Cookies signature SoFlo OG cut. When vaped, we also notice some gassier flavor notes that are textbook Gelato. The concoction of all the olfactory and flavor notes creates a fusion of some of the most elite flavors we’ve found, and the effects reflect that as a combination of relaxation and euphoria.
