Cookies

There’s no denying the market juggernaut that the Cookies brand has become. Founded in 2010 by Billboard-charting rapper and entrepreneur Berner and Bay Area cultivator Jai, Cookies boasts a collection of over 70 proprietary cannabis cultivars and more than 2,000 products. Since opening its first retail store in Los Angeles in 2018, the brand has expanded to over 70 locations across 20+ markets in six countries. And lucky you, it’s even available from local dispensaries in Maryland and DC! With iconic strains like Biscotti, Apples & Bananas, and London Pound Cake, the Cookies hype train doesn’t look like it’s coming to a stop anytime soon. Our team has enjoyed the opportunity to smoke a lot of Cookies flowers- here’s a few we recommend getting your hands on.

Review: Georgia Pie

Georgie Pie was originally bred by Seed Junky Genetics for Cookies and is a cross of (Gelatti x Kush Mints). Gelatti is Biscotti back crossed to Gelato 41, which provides funky kerosene traits that pair nicely with the musty-mint flavors from the Kush Mints. Biscotti and Kush Mints strains are both staff favorites- so what happens when a world-class breeding crew put them together?

Despite the name giving us literally no clues as to what to expect, we were thrilled to find Georgia Pie to be gassy flower that leaves us in straight up body bags with its potency. The fume-y scent and killer effects are reason enough to recommend this strain, but we think that this sample has some other noteworthy traits. The flowers are multi-peaked, resinous, neon-green and purple nug of extraordinary density. It also smokes dead smooth and had us heavy-eyed for hours. Georgia Pie is the kind of smoke we wish we could smoke all day everyday- it’s that good.

Review: London Pound Cake

London Pound Cake is a cross between (Sunset Sherbet x Nepali OG), which technically makes it a Bx2. This gives it a powerfully sweet scent and flavor that presents with a sharpness across the nostrils, akin to cake icing. Within two drags of a Volcano bag, the effects of LPC onset, and after smoking our usual testing dose, the potency left us feeling heavy eyed and ready to sleep. This sample was also smooth, burned well and had light ash in the joint, all signs of excellent quality.

In the world of automobiles, afficianados love to guess as to which cars coming out each year might be future classics. They try to intuit which cars are going to be similarly iconic to something like a Ferarri F40 or a E30 BMW M3, and sometimes cannabis enthusiasts play the same game. The first time we tried London Pound Cake, we thought it was future classic material. The flower itself is maybe the perfect example of sugar-y sweet flavor, and Cookies has marketed the hell out of this strain with its iconic, imaginary £75 note design.

Review: Biscotti Pancake

Biscotti Pancake was bred by Cookies Fam Genetics as a cross of, you guessed it, Biscotti and Pancakes. These two sweet tasting strains pair together to create bulbous nugs. The nugs are dark green and iced out in trichomes, making the color look lighter on initial glance. The green gets lighter as you break apart the nug. The nugs are thick and dense as they retain their form despite being pressed down. As you open the bag, butter and sweet aromas fill the nose palette. The first whiff will definitely remind you of some syrup. Nostalgic, right? When breaking down the nugs, a diesel smell starts to infiltrate sweetness.

When smoked through a joint, an explosion of complex flavor will great you with harsh, peppery puffs upon inhalation while the exhale is definitely on the sweeter side and soothes the throat from initial harshness. The joint exhibits bone white ash all the way throughout the smoke. The high starts off mellow, slowly making its way into your mind, removing any stress or bad vibes from the day. By the time we reached the last inhale, the potent smoke had punched us real good in the face. Not only did we feel more clear-headed, but a bit more serene as well. Small doses of this strain is perfect if you’re looking for a fun buzz.
